How to Develop a PPC Plan
Author David Schneider | Aug 28,2007  |  Print  | Share This

Pay per click, or PPC, is used by many marketers to increase Web traffic and even spread word-of-mouth advertising. If you don't know how to develop a PPC plan, then you are missing your opportunity to cash in on this growing trend.

 Developing a PPC Plan

Pay-per-click is built around keywords, in conjunction with search engines, to create sponsored links on Web pages all over the Internet. These sponsored links created by PPC plans usually appear in prime locations on web pages, and will appear every single time certain keywords are used. All you have to do is decide which keywords, and which links, will appeal to the broadest base of customers.

Deciding upon which keywords to use, and the links you want to create, is probably much easier said than done, but it is essential to the success of any PPC plan. These days, very little is found on the Internet without the use of search engines. These engines are what really drive Internet traffic, but they've also made keywords the single most important aspect of any and all web pages.

Use Top-Rated Keywords

You'll want to use popular keywords that will appeal to people you think will be interested in your website. Sound confusing enough? The search engines actually release weekly lists of their most popular searches, so it's a good idea to take a look at these to find out which keywords make the cut frequently. You'll want to use keywords that relate to your products and services, as well as some of these more popular words, to draw in a good mix of traffic. Once you've optimized your site for keywords, and you know exactly what these words are, you can begin to develop a PPC plan that will really work.

Once you've decided upon your keywords, you can create links and start the real work on your PPC plan. The links have to contain the all-important keywords, of course, but make sure your link descriptions are easy to read and as eye-catching as possible. After all, your links have to be great in order to get users to click through them, right? When users do click through your sponsored links, a little bit of revenue will be generated for the sites hosting the links.

When you know how to develop a PPC plan, you can implement this marketing technique. These plans can be highly successful if you've got a good mix of keywords, so remember these words are the most essential part of your entire plan. Sponsored links do work, and they will get exposure, so focus on the keywords and make sure customers will find a great landing page once they do click on your links.
