How To Drive Branding Efforts With Online Advertising
Author David Schneider | Sep 18,2007  |  Print  | Share This
In the past, some marketers were wary about the effectiveness of the Internet for branding purposes. Those same experts may now have to eat their words. The fact is that cyberspace is the branding tool par excellence. If you think about it, branding is nothing more than helping your customers and potential clients get information about your company in a way that projects a certain image about your business.

Well, the Internet is the information source of our generation, so it makes a perfect marriage with branding plans. You can use the web to tell customers about your company but also to subtly promote a specific image of your company and your business. It doesn't hurt that the Internet allows you to get many different ads in many different places - that can really help you to develop brand recognition.

Advertising and Branding

Although advertising online has often been maligned in comparison with the Internet's holistic marketing potential, there is much to be said about the power of paid ads to promote your business. Unlike marketing efforts, online advertisements allow you to reach larger audiences and often with very alluring images and graphics.

For example, if you are trying to market your business through article marketing, you may find your content all but ignored in the sea of articles that are swept into article directories every day.

However, when you pay for an ad, you control - to a large extent - how many people see it and how people see your ad. Of course, it helps that major sites are often willing to work very hard to ensure that you get your money's worth for ads.

Synergistic Marketing

Another great secret for online branding is the possibility of synergistic marketing. Rather than just doing the usual dull branding - placing your logo everywhere and hoping for the best - the Internet allows for a holistic approach to branding by using advertising.

For example, let's say that you sell in-floor heating. On your web site and in your advertisements, you can educate potential buyers about all the advantages of in-floor heating. You can set up a contest and ask potential customers to send along the names of friends and fill out a brief poll in order to enter the contest. Instantly, you have created a viral marketing campaign, are gathering marketing information and are building a name as a company that helps inform customers. To further project a caring attitude, you can blog about your company's involvement in charity projects, and maybe even upload a coupon customers can use. These advertisements will help promote your company at many levels, helping your profits grow.
